REVEREND WILLIE W. WILSON
Rev. Willie W. Wilson was born in Leesburg, Georgia, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Burk Wilson. He attended school in the Albany, Georgia under the County School System.
He joined the St. Stephen Baptist Church, there he worked on the Junior Deacon Board and was the President of the Usher Board. He met and married Ethel Lois Crafton on August 8, 1958. Of this marriage four children were born: Gregory Lamar, the late Derrick Lorenzo, Barron Orlando and Tiffany Daniel Wilson-Thompson. He moved to Jersey City, New Jersey in 1963.
In 1964, he became a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Jersey City under the leadership of the late Rev. Williams. He served in many capacities and was ordained as a Deacon. In August of 1977, he was called to the ministry. He was ordained in May 1979.
In April 1979, he was called to pastorate at the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Jersey City, New Jersey. Pastor Wilson, organized and formed several auxiliaries to meet the need of this Evangelical Ministry. Pastor Wilson has several sons and daughters in the ministry.
Pastor Wilson is a member of the National Baptist Congress U.S.A., Inc. he has served as Past Moderator of the Christian Fellowship Association, President of Quarterly Union, Foreign Mission Board, General Baptist State Convention Of New Jersey, Concern Clergy and Ministerial Alliance of Jersey City and Vicinity. He was one of the organizers of Concerned Clergy for Education, Jersey City. Under his tenure, The Christian Education Committee was organized. He has worked with Interfaith Community Organization. He is a member of the N. A. A.C. P and contributor to the United Negro College Fund.
In 2000, Rev. Wilson retired from pastorate at the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Jersey City, New Jersey and moved back to Georgia. Although he retired, the Lord had more work for him to do. After the move, in August 2000 Rev. Wilson was called to lead the people of New Oak Grove Baptist Church, Cordele, Ga.
Under his leadership he has reorganized ministries, choirs, organized several youth groups, Youth Seminar workshop, several church upgrades including-audio system, accounting system, computer lab. Under his leadership, church renovation, building of the new fellowship hall, church marquee and much more.
On October 18, 2015, Rev. W. W. Wilson, will celebrate his 15th anniversary as Pastor of the New Oak Grove Baptist Church, Cordele, Ga.
